Holidays to Schluchsee

Schluchsee is the name given to the lake as well as the climatic spa resort. The former glacial lake was dammed around 80 years ago, turning it into the Black Forest’s largest lake and Germany’s highest dam. As such, the lake has developed into a swimming and water sports centre for the entire Black Forest and is considered one of Germany’s cleanest lakes.

The long beaches and Aqua Fun water park are excellent attractions, especially when coupled with the heated open-air pool right next to the lake, which boasts a 105 metre giant slide, an artificial current and an adventure playground for children.

Hikers will discover 160km of trails in and around the family-friendly Lake Schluchsee. In addition, the resort is especially proud to have received the award for “Germany’s favourite hiking destination” in 2005. One reason for this is the 18-kilometre path around the lake that closely follows the water’s edge.

And what happens in winter when the lake is frozen? That’s when 60km of cross-country runs are opened. Skiers enjoy the ski lift in Fischbach until the light of dawn floods the valley. Anyone who is not so keen on skiing can take advantage of the idyllic hiking tours and romantic sleigh rides in the winter wonderland.
