Set amid the wild, romantic scenery of the Black Forest, Triberg is best known for Germany’s highest waterfalls, which tumble a dramatic 163 metres through seven cascades and are floodlit every evening. This is also the traditional home of the cuckoo clock, still handcrafted here and sold in shops throughout the town. Explore the vast Black Forest Museum, admire the ornately carved council chamber and pilgrimage church, or ride the Schwarzwaldbahn, one of Europe’s most spectacular mountain railways with around 35 tunnels. The Black Forest Museum is a unique attraction covering 1600 square meters. The Pilgrimage Church Wallfahrtskirche with the attractive “Mesnerhäuschen” and the magnificent wood-carved council chamber in the town hall are masterpieces of architecture and craftsmanship. Following ancient traditions, cuckoo clocks are still made in Triberg – there is a good choice of shops where you can buy many varieties and admire the famous Black Forest clocks.

A must see is Germany’s highest waterfalls! Foaming and roaring, the water plunges 163 meters into the river “Gutach”. On the paths along the seven stages, you experience a magnificent spectacle of nature. The falls are accessible during the whole year and offer an impressive spectacle, even in winter. In addition, the falls are illuminated every day from the morning until night.

Also to be discovered is the “Schwarzwaldbahn” – one of the most beautiful mountain tracks in Europe, with around 35 tunnels. The attraction is not only the harmony of the railway site with its nature, but the constitution itself is still regarded as a masterpiece of engineering nowadays.
